The second annual Squash Angels Tournament took place at the Hong Kong Cricket Club on the weekend of September 7th to 9th.
We were able to build on the success of last year’s tournament, with both familiar and new faces participating in this year’s event. This year, we had 52 players participating ranging from 10-year old to 60-year old across three divisions of playing ability.
Despite being early in the squash season, our competitors showed no signs of rust and it was apparent that there was some solid summer training by many of them. We enjoyed thrilling, nail biting matches throughout the tournament and across all divisions. Clearly there is no lack of squash talent in Hong Kong as players competed in tough battles throughout each round. It was inspiring to see players moving up in division from last year and competing strongly despite the increase in calibre in Divisions A and B this year.
Saturday Night Social
It was great to have such a diverse group of players enjoying each other's company on and off the court regardless of age and skill level. In addition to the on-court competition, we held an evening social where players and supporters mingled with VIP guests, including Hong Kong’s top female players, the Hong Kong National Coach, members of Hong Kong Squash and event sponsors.
